The 100 Garden Moments portal formed the foundation for a new initiative that will be unveiled on June 17: Canada’s Garden Hall of Famers. In 2022, as part of the Year of the Garden celebration, the Garden Council partnered with the Centre for Canadian Historical Horticulture Studies and Know History to identify 100 Garden Moments of Canada, celebrating the milestones that contributed to the development of the country’s garden culture and horticulture industry. Take a photo of your garden or while visiting a public garden and post it with the #GardenDaysContest hashtag and you will be entered to win a Scotts Canada prize pack valued at $150. The Garden Council invites all Canadians to share their experiences on social media. There are lots of ways to celebrate, including planning a very garden-licious meal.” It’s also a great opportunity to plan your own celebration and host a garden party for your friends and family. “We’re inviting local horticulture organizations, garden clubs and municipalities to organize something special on National Garden Day. One of Canada’s most recognized heritage gardens, the Halifax Public Gardens dates back to 1836. Garden Days is a great time to explore Canada’s public gardens. Saskatchewan destinations highlighted on the map include the Patterson Garden Arboretum at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, and the Parks Canada heritage gardens at the Batoche National Historic Site, and the Motherwell Homestead National Historic Site.
